Academic Week 5

James left this week, so last weekend we decided to go the the Valley Fiesta to make sure he had a good send off:

Although I have a lot of work due for next week I still managed to fit some fun in. We went to Student Night at the Unibar for James' last night. We also managed to go to salsa on Friday as it was the first Friday in weeks without any rain! On Thursday there was a Culture, Food and Fun Day on campus which involved some yummy food (I tried the pizza pretzel, it was amazing) and entertainment from around the world:

This was Tord's first time salsa dancing and I think it's fair to say he loved it, although I think it was mainly alcohol fueled; Anna tore his shirt apart but he flaunted it, by the end of the night I think we were all a little tired:

Rain, Rain and More Rain...

So out of the 7 days this week it's rained for 4 of them, and is forecast to rain over the weekend too, spoiling our plans for both last weekend and this one. Fair to say I can't wait for the Summer!

Can't really see the weather so much, but I was sat in Adam's garage doing my academic reading and he was putting his bike back together, it was a nice shelter from the rain!

Looking for ways to occupy myself (and also being totally jealous of Jack's braids in his hair) I got him to do one for me, using one of Tord's Norwegian Krone. I also asked Adam to take me to a hardware store so I could get paint colourcharts, I spent a good few hours decorating my wall:

On Tuesday we were thankful to see the sun so we made the most of it!

 Unibar in the evening

This week I also booked a trip to Sydney for Halloween which I'm really looking forward to. It's so handy having an STA travel on campus! Another great thing about Griffith is that KGBC (accommodation) constantly have events on, this week has consisted of free food and dessert nights!

I've Been Here a Month!

As with every week, academic week three has been filled with fun and lots (and I mean LOTS) of laughter.

Last weekend I took Adam to the cinema and in return he took me further West and showed me all the views at different national parks:

Huge strawberries for the dessert part of our picnic and reading my book on the back of the Ute.

A few days ago I was reading in bed and rolled over to see this stunning view (it looks ten times better in real life):

We went to the weekly Unibar event again this Tuesday, the theme was 'Country Best':

Anna's boyfriend is visiting from England, so we need to show him the sights. We had tea in the city and sat on deckchairs by the river:

After a full month of living here I've FINALLY got my TTCC card, allowing me to purchase a student GoCard for cheaper travel costs:

I've managed to develop a sore throat from laughing and talking so much (mainly with Tord and Anna) but i'm not complaining. I also went for my first jog through Toohey forest yesterday, it's nice to have a change of scenery! It was the EKKA public holiday on Wednesday so I'm hoping to go and see the fair at some point this week. My first assignment is due next Friday but I'm fairly confident, the assessments here at Griffith seem to be less intimidating than at Brookes. Until next time,

Academic Week 2

Highlights of this week: I changed my class! The Amazing Race and also salsa dancing last night was so much fun- I think it's going to become a weekly thing!

I had a busy weekend last week, first the Amazing Race:

I think we all needed a lie-down after running around Brisbane for 3 hours!

After the Amazing Race, Anna, Tord and I went to Soutbank beach for a relax before a ferry trip to a BBQ with other friends:
Then the br crawl 'Saucy Sunday Sesh':

This was an event for our flats, KGBC, so really helped us get to know everyone we're living with. It's through these people we met that we went salsa dancing!

Ok so one of the big deals this week was changing my course, I had a busy timetable as I was trial-running two classes on Wednesday. Luckily I found a suitable and interesting replacement (Youth and Society) so this week my timetable has gone from this:
to this:
So, Salsa time!
Me and Sergio rocking the spins, and Anna giving AJ his first salsa lesson- fair to say he loved it!
Some Australian delicacies, despite it being Greek yoghurt... But I thought it was funny how the Australians have Koala Freddos:

Some down-time with Ben and Anna:
I've seen a few more animals this week, including a gecko, lots of moths, a beetle in my bed and a poisonous red-back spider:
